![]() ![]() ![]() I'm going all Elinchrom soon. That's right, I'm coming to Phoenix! And most importantly I'm bringing an All Star collection of my Workshop Models from the Midwest! I'll try what you said.ītw- I posted this on Model Mayhem and got a tongue lashing and started a war. I'm used to just throwing up big modifiers and shooting. Good analysis! I wasn't seeing the fill lights in addition to all the other details you mentioned. Thanks for the reply! I had to read your post super slow to understand everything. ![]() ![]() " Humani nihil a se alienum putabat." - Latin Proverb Even if it didn't, I had fun.įYI, if these aren't your shots, you aren't supposed to post them, just link to them.īecky Keeling, Denver-based Portraiture and Travel Photographer. Very contrasty, a concept used well for nudes. See the hot spot on her chest and lack of shadow on the floor in front? My first guess was reflector with barn doors for the key light until I noticed the second hot spot on her chest (first one was on her arm) and see how well her feet are lit? Definetly a fill. Fill light is from from the front but lower. See the eye and chin shadows? Hence the zombie couture. Key light is seriously from above, undiffused. Number two.I would definetly guess barn doors for the background. The camera doesn't care how expensive your gear is or where the light is coming from. Don't make it harder than it needs to be. Hell, I've shot through an insulation panel with a hole cut in it for cool effects. If you don't have barn doors you can shoot through two book ends set up just right. Barn doors are great, they can direct your light so much better. I would guess a beauty dish with a grid (40 degrees?) for your key, notice how her pants are so much darker. Which leaves probably a snoot or barndoors feathered acrossed the background (maybe one on each side?). No hair light, hence the dark circle in her hair and no light boost and seperation from the background behind her back. Why above? The hot spots on her bangs and the dark shadows by her feet. Her back is dark so I'm guessing the fill is directly above the camera. Number one.shadow to her left, means light about 45 degrees to camera right. Seemless white backgrounds lend themselves so nicely to going grey and even black when lit (or not) properly.īreaking it down image by image. If you can blow up a model's eye and figure out the lighting set-up it makes it so much easier. The reason I mention catch lights is because they are so telling as to a lighting set-up. Heh, my first thought is houte zombie couture. ![]()
